Kiritieswari Temple is situated in kiritikona village,near Mukundopur  Nabagram  lalbagh sub- Division Murshidaabad. This is one of the Shakit  pithas among the 51 pithas.




Geographical map:

According to Hindu mythology or puran the place where name as Kiritieswari. The construction of this building more than 1000 years old and the place where considered to be a sleeping place of Mahamaya. Pitha devi name isVimala  and Bhairav is Shamvarta. The local people call this temple Mahishamardini. The original Temple was distroy in 1405. The present temple was re-constructed by Darpanarayan ,the king of Lagola 8n 19th century.  This is the oldest architecture mark of 51 pith.



It is the oldest temple of Murshidabad District. There is a legend that Nawab Mir Jafar on his death bed has request to the holy water or Charnamrita of Kiritieswari temple. The unique features of the temple is absence of images or daitya. The red color stone which is supposed to be the symbolic representation of Goodness is covered by a red vell the yera thought.





The head dresses is preserve at Rani Vabani Gupthamath at present, opposite of the Temple. 
In the new temple there is no images. There is a high alter on which a small alter is seen. The face of the Maa is indexed here.  Bhagawan  Roy  received the land where the temple is situated from Akbar the great. The old temple is construct by  Bhagawan Roy  and the new temple is construct by Darpanarayan. The temple open daily   6 pm to 3 pm  and later 5 pm to 10 pm. 




 Festivals are held in Durga Puja, Kali puja and Amavasaya. The special ritual is held in Amavasaya ( no moon night) with while night yagan and other special rituals.  And daily, Maa is offered Anna - vogh  (rice) at noon. Besides the various types of seasonal Fruits is offered to the Goddess.
