Brief History :
Nashipur rail brigade or Nashipur - Azimganj railway bridge will connect Murshidabad Railway station to Azimganj Junction rail station across the river of Bhagirathi.

The 785 meter long bridge wsa existsed during the British period but was later disbound during World War II.
Azimganj to Naihati railway line started in the year 1872. The bridge use to act a NG branch line from Azimganj to Berhampur connecting lalgola - Krishan nager NG line with Azimganj- Naihati BG line.
The rail brigade on the Bhagirathi river is reduce the travel time between North Bengal to South Bengal. As per railway official statement this bridge reduce the distance between New Jalpaigudi to Sealdha station about 21 km.
Why Nashipur rail brigade now not in ues :
More than 90℅ wark has been completed but due to land acquisition problem the wark is stopped. For land acquisition problem the RS -70 crore railway track project was stopped.
The plot that need to be acquired are located between Azimganj Junction and the right bank of Bhagirathi river in Mahinager area in Murshidabad- Jiaganj block.
In the year 1994, Rail Roko agitation has been organized , Murshidabad railway passenger Association over this long standing demands.
In present day, Nashipur railway bridge is a tourist place. This bridge is located beside the Katgola Bagan, the people who visit to Katgola Bagan also visit this place. Now it has a photo shoot place. Many youTube video and Album also shoot here.
